Welcome to Lectures in Jeans (“LIJ”)! We respect the privacy of our users and partners, and are committed to protecting the information that you share with us in connection with your use of Our Services and Website, as those terms defined in our terms of service (“Terms of use”).

Your use of the Website or Services involves a collection and processing of some of your personal information by LIJ, as described in this privacy policy. Unless otherwise explicitly required by you, and approved in writing by us, your use of the Website or our Services, so as your active provision of personal information (such as by phone or in a form), constitutes your consent to the terms set forth in this privacy policy, including the collection and processing of your personal information. 

  1. Overview of Our Services

In a nutshell, LIJ creates engaging lectures and events hosted in bars, cafes, and similar venues, rented by us on an ad hoc basis (“Venues”), for the purpose of education, networking, and entertainment.

   2. Changes to the Policy

We may modify this Policy at any time. Such changes will be effective immediately upon the display of the revised policy. The last revision date will be reflected in the "Last Updated" heading.

    3. Your Consent

Please read this Policy carefully before using the Websites and Our Services, because in doing so you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set forth in this policy, including to the collection and processing of your Personal Data (“PD”, as defined under the General Data Protection Regulations of the European Union - “GDPR”): 

We clarify that you are not obliged by law to provide us with any PD. You hereby acknowledge and agree that you are providing us with PD at your own free will, for the purposes described in this policy, and that we may retain such data in accordance with this policy and to any applicable laws and regulations. We do not collect any PD about you or related to you without your approval, which is obtained, inter alia, by your active acceptance of this policy. However, if you refuse to provide us with PD, it may prevent us from providing you Our Services. 

 

    4. Lawful Bases for Processing PD

 a. We collect some PD about you in order to facilitate the events we organise, hence collecting this PD is necessary for us, upon your consent and in order to perform our contract with you;

 b. When visitors access our Websites, we collect certain online identifiers for purposes of services functionalities, and at times, for purposes of advertising and marketing Our Services. Such online identifiers are processed subject to the visitors consent to our Cookie policy, otherwise we will not process PD from such visitors; 

 c. We will process necessary cookies regardless of a visitor's active consent, as part of our legitimate interest and for our Websites functionality necessities;

 d. Upon consent or legitimate interest, as the case may be, we will use your contact information for purposes of sending you messages regarding an event you are going to attend or direct marketing; 

 e. In certain cases, we may have to process PD to prepare for a legal claim, or as otherwise be required by applicable laws;

  f. In any other case, we will process your PD only where You have provided us with an explicit consent to do so, or, where we have a legitimate interest, which is not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.

 

    5. How We Collect Data

Depending on the nature of your interaction with Our Services, we may collect data as follows:

Automatically – we may use Cookies, tags or log files to gather some information automatically;

Provided by You – we will collect information if and when you choose to provide us with such information; for example, when you choose to contact us.

Photography and Recordings at Events - during our events, we may take photographs, video, or audio recordings for promotional purposes, including use on our website, social media platforms, and other marketing materials. By attending our events, you consent to being photographed or recorded. If you prefer not to appear in any media, please inform us before the event or notify our staff on-site, and we will make every effort to accommodate your request. These materials are used solely by us, and will not be shared with third parties without your consent.

 

     6. Data We Collect and Process About You

General: Depending on your interaction with us - i.e. whether You are a guest - or a future guest - at our Events (“Guest”); a Visitor who just checks up our Website; or a Customer engaged with us in a business-to-business relationship - We may collect two types of data about you, as defined below: 

Non-PD: This type of data can not personally identify, or lead to identifying You as a natural person. This may include, for example, your aggregated usage information and technical information transmitted such as (but not limited to): the type of your operating system, type of browser, language preference, and approximate geo-location (country level);  

PD:  The second type of information is PD that identifies You as a natural person, or that may be used, either alone or in combination with other information, to personally identify you as a natural person. Such information may include, for example, a first and last name, an email address, phone number, a home or other physical address; also, and given the specific use We make of the information, an IP address, device ID and cookies could also be considered as PD.  The table below details the PD processed by us.

 

     7. Data we collect about You from third parties

Media channels: certain media channels who may have sent You to our Websites, - such as Facebook, Instagram and Google - might provide us with metadata about you, in an anonymized and minimized form, for purposes of measurement and calculation of payment to them. This data sharing is subject to and disclosed in their own individual privacy policies which you are required to confirm before using their services;

From a Venue: Venues might supply the Company with data regarding Guests who attended Events. This data may include, among others, the identity of the Guest who used their facilities, if they behaved in an un-mannered way or damaged property, orders the Guest made at a relevant venue. This data is collected for supervision, monitoring and billing purposes.

 

     8. Sharing Your PD with Third Parties

We keep the PD about You in strict confidence and only share it with third parties in limited circumstances and for very specific purposes, as per the categories described below. We hereby emphasize and commit that WE DO NOT SELL your PD TO ANY SOURCE AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES. 

Notwithstanding the foregoing, we might share our your PD in the following cases:

Sharing Guests' PD with Venues: We might share limited PD about our Guests with Venues (such as their full names), in order for venues to be able to help us facilitate our Events;
 

Third Party Services: LIJ is partnering with a number of selected service providers, whose services and solutions complement, facilitate and enhance our own. These include payment and processing, media services who help us to advertise Our Services, data hosting, database and server co-location services (e.g., Stripe, Amazon (AWS)), data analytics services (e.g. Google Analytics) and session replay records for analytic purposes such as crashes, functionality and usability (e.g. MixPanel) and our business, legal and financial advisors (collectively, “Third Party Service Providers”). Such Third Party Service Providers may receive or otherwise have access to some of your PD, depending on each of their particular roles and purposes in facilitating and enhancing our services, and may only use your PD for such purposes. Disclosures of PD by us are subject to the respective third party’s undertaking of confidentiality obligations, and the prevention of any independent right to use this data, except as required to help us provide you with our services; 
 

Law enforcement, legal proceedings: the Company may disclose or otherwise allow access to PD pursuant to a legal requirement or request, such as a subpoena, search warrant or court order, or in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Such disclosure or access may occur with or without notice to You, if We have a good faith belief that we are legally required to do so, or that disclosure is appropriate in connection with efforts to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding actual or suspected illegal activity, fraud, or other wrongdoing;
 

Protecting Rights and Safety: We may share your PD with others, with or without notice to You, in cases of emergency or if we believe in good faith that this will help protect the rights, property or personal safety of the Company, our Guests, Venues  or any member of the general public; 
 

Change of control: In the event that LIJ will be acquired by, or merged with, a third party entity, We reserve the right to transfer or assign the PD collected by us, as part of such merger, acquisition, sale, or other change of control;

Upon Your explicit consent: We may share Your PD in additional manners, pursuant to your explicit approval.

 

     9. PD Storage

Your PD will be maintained, processed and stored by us and our authorized affiliates (as applicable) in a secure cloud storage, provided by our Third Party Service Providers. While the data protection laws in jurisdictions where the information is physically stored may be different than the laws of your residence or location, please know that We and our service providers that store or process your PD on our behalf, are each committed to keeping it protected and secured, pursuant to this Policy and best industry standards, regardless of any lesser legal requirements that may apply in a particular jurisdiction.

 

     10. Data Retention

We retain the PD We collect or receive from You, only for as long as needed in order to provide Our Services, and as otherwise necessary to comply with applicable laws and regulations. 

If you withdraw your consent to us processing your PD, we will delete your PD from our systems, except to the extent such data in whole or in part is required to comply with any applicable rule or regulation or to respond to a legal proceeding brought against us or our affiliates. We will also not delete any of your PD regarding your bookings to events, since we need it for the purpose of managing our finances.

 

      11. Your Rights Under the Policy

If you have a request regarding our collection and use of your PD, please contact us at info@lecturesinjeans.com with your detailed request, and We will take care of it as soon as possible. Please note, that when we are handling these requests, we may ask for additional information to confirm your identity and request. Your rights under the Policy are:

  • Right of access: You may ask LIJ to access any information we hold about you;

  • Right to rectification: You may ask us to correct the information we hold about you; 

  • Right to erasure: You may ask us to delete your information or to stop using it. We can only do this when possible, since sometimes we need your information to comply with the law or simply to provide you with Our Services (see further explanation above in "data retention" section);

  • Right to the restriction of processing: You may ask us to temporarily block the possibility of using your PD. Please note that this too might cause us to not being able to provide you with Our Services;

  • Objection to processing: You have the right to object to our use of your PD, when the reason for our processing is our legitimate interest. In such a case, we will cease the processing until we can prove that our legitimate interest overrules your rights, or that we need to continue with the processing for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.;

  • Right to data portability: You may contact us to request an export of your PD in a reusable format;

  • Right to withdraw consent: Where you have given us your consent to use your information for a specific purpose, you may, at any time, decide to withdraw your consent and we will then stop using your information for that purpose;

  • Right to lodge a complaint: If You believe that your rights have not been respected by us, you may lodge a complaint against the Company with IMY - the Swedish authority responsible for protecting PD.

 

      12. Minors

In order to use Our Services, You must be over the age of 16. LIJ does not knowingly collect PD from or about persons under this age, and does not wish to do so. We reserve the right to request proof of age from any of our Users at any point - so that we can verify that people under the age of 16 are not using Our Services. 

In the event that it comes to our attention that a person under the age of 16 is using Our Services, We may prohibit and block them or the person that provided the PD about them, from using Our Services. We will make all efforts to promptly delete any PD with respect to such User.

 

       13. Security

We take great care in implementing and maintaining the security of Our Services and of your PD. We employ industry standard procedures to ensure the safety of your information, and reduce the risks stemming from loss of information and prevent unauthorized use of any such information. However, We do not and cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur and reiterate that no measure can provide absolute information security.

  1. Cookies and other web technologies

When You access or use the Websites, We may use “cookies” (or similar technologies), which store certain information on your device (i.e., locally stored) and which will allow us to customize Our Services and content as well as enhance your experience of our services. The use of cookies is a standard industry-wide practice. A "Cookie" is a small piece of information that a website or app assigns and stores on your device while you are viewing them. Cookies are very helpful and can be used for various different purposes such as allowing you to navigate between pages efficiently and making the interaction between you and our services quicker and easier. 

We may permit third parties to use cookies or other technologies to collect information about your usage activities on our websites, this data may include online identifiers therefore we recommend you review our cookie policy. We may link this automatically-collected data to other information we collect about you.
